Curses, Foiled Again Police in Williamsburg, Ky., arrested two men and two women for stealing a 20-foot-long section of railroad track. Unable to load the track onto their truck, even with a hoist, they chained it to the back and dragged it behind them, gouging the pavement along the way. Curses, Foiled Again John Wilkinson, 24, entered a drug store in Stanton, Texas, carrying what appeared to be a gun wrapped in a dark cloth, yelled at customers to get down and demanded Zanax and hydrocodine from the pharmacist. He made off with the drugs, according to police Chief Mike Adams, but when he reached his car, which he left idling in front of the drug store, he realized he had locked the keys inside. Wilkinson fled on foot, pursued by police, who shot him in the shoulder because they thought he was carrying a weapon. It turned out to be a caulking gun.... Read more

Curses, Foiled Again A man phoned a Pizza Hut restaurant in Elko, Nev., claiming to have stolen five signs used atop delivery vehicles. He demanded $500 for their return. Police said when the manager wanted proof he had the signs, the caller sent a cell phone picture. Officers were able to zoom in on license plate numbers of two vehicles in the background, registered to Jess Jay Long, 23, a former employee of the restaurant. Curses, Foiled Again A man disguised as a woman walked into a restaurant in Metairie, La., ordered two doughnuts and handed the clerk a $5 bill. According to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office, when the clerk opened the register, the man pulled a handgun. The employee reacted by screaming for someone to call 911. Curses, Foiled Again A surveillance video of an attempted drug-store robbery in Port Richey, Fla., shows the suspect handing a hold-up note to a clerk, only the note is blank. The St. Petersburg Times reported the suspect then verbally announced the robbery, but the clerk ignored him to call 911 and describe the robber, who tried to hang up the phone but couldn’t. Curses, Foiled Again An armed man wearing a fake beard and mustache and a wig walked into a bank in Fort Worth, Texas, and demanded cash. Police Lt. Paul Henderson said the robber, who apparently took a taxi to the bank, asked the teller for a ride, but the teller refused, instead handing the man keys and telling him they belonged to a car in the parking lot.
