The after work crowd flooding the Church St Marketplace Friday got an unexpected show when a pillow fight erupted in front of the mall. A whistle signaled the start of the Burlington Pillow Fight Flash-Mob which was over as suddenly as it began.

Police arrested organizer Darin Cassler who was released later that day. Who knew pillows could cause so much trouble?

Update: After a brief media storm including a feature on the CNN homepage, features on WPTZ and the Burlington Free Press, the Burlington Police decided not to prosecute Darin:

April 21, 2009  2009-08213 – Disorderly Conduct – UPDATE  After supervisory review of the case material and video, and a secondary meeting between the Officer and Darin Cassler, we have opted not to pursue a referral for prosecution in this case.

As we have impressed upon Mr. Cassler, it is important to note that these types of events can have collateral/negative impact on the area in which they are held and this case could be literally construed as disorderly, we do not view prosecution of this matter as the appropriate recourse.
